Debate Topic: 

DEBATE: Be it resolved that … 

 Despite all the government agreements such as COP 26, Paris Agreement, and the Kyoto Protocols as they relate to the Climate Change Agreement. Would you say we are closer or further away from achieving these goals utilizing available technology?

Debate Competition Rules

Theme: Using Technology to Mitigate Climate Change.

Objective: To highlight the importance of understanding Climate Change and its impact globally and on the Caribbean Region.

 

  • 1. Students will be able to discuss what is Climate Change.
  •  
  • 2. The student will be able to identify how human activity increases the risk of Climate Change.
  •  
  • 3. Students will build awareness of the impacts on Trinidad and Tobago utilizing media and other forms of communication methods.
  •  
  • 4. Students will identify options for reducing risks caused by Climate Change. Also actively discuss the advantages and problems associated with these options.
  •  
  • 5. Students will develop a realistic plan that can be actioned to mitigate the effects and impacts of Climate Change in the Caribbean. 
 

Rules of the Competition:

1. Debate team consists of 4 people.

2. Teams have 20 minutes to present an argument for or against the topic.

3. A team will only be awarded points for presentation falling within the twenty minutes of the allotted time. However, the presenting team member will be allowed to continue a point, if over the time.

4. Each school can enter one team.

5. Teams will present arguments in the fashion of a traditional debate.

6. Teams are to be respectful of each other’s opponents at all times.

7. Charts and any other relevant visual aids may be used in the debate.

8. Teams will be disqualified based on punctuality, ill behavior, and failing to follow the rules.

9. All teams must have a secondary speaker in case of an emergency (illness of a student).

10. Debate will be broadcast via Facebook live.

11. The judges’ decision is final.

 
Essay Competition

Entry Rules & Requirements

Art Competition

Entry Rules & Requirements

Rules of Competition:

1. Art/ Cartoon is to be done on a 14” by 17” in size.

2. Any medium can be used for art (poster paint, crayon, colored pencils, etc.).

3. Art pieces must reflect the competition theme.

4. Work must be neatly done to be accepted.

5. Schools can enter as many pieces in each group.

6. All artwork should be mounted on a Bristol board.

7. The school has from the opening of the competition to the 4th of May to complete and submit their artwork entries.

8. All art will be uploaded to the teacher.

9. Art chosen for final judging will be delivered to the school to be dropped off to the judge.

8. All art pieces become the property of BpTT.

9. The decision of the judge is final.
